DISCOVERY HOUSE CHRISTIAN STUDY

Discovery House offers a  resilient Christianity study to assist with our partner’s traditional drug addiction treatments. It is a place of trust where our people go to be shepherded to receive spiritually sensitive care in a confidential environment. This option is elective and runs for 60 days and includes in-depth Biblical study, prayer time, Christian Addiction Recovery Workbook Sessions and Celebrate Recovery. We meet daily for these activities in addition to the full group afternoon activities associated with the other tracks.

This study undergoes individual and group therapies with an Ordained Pastor to maintain a strong spiritual guidance throughout treatment.

Our Christianity study is built on four key pillars

  • Daily Bible study

Group study lead by our pastor with students on our Christian track and dive deep into Biblical study and Biblical healing principles.

  • Daily prayer time

This time is done both in a group atmosphere and individually. We also take time each week for more in depth personal “alone time” with God.

  • Daily workbook time together

Completely Biblical and led by the Holy Spirit. “Freedom from Addiction” workbook will change the way you look at God, yourself and change your life. This is a very powerful workbook!

  • Celebrate Recovery

The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to provide ministry and support for those who are struggling with hurts, habits or hang ups and are ready to work their way through a process of recovery with other like-minded Christians with God’s help.

Do I have to be Christian to have the option to take the Christian study? No. The Christian study is open to anyone that wants to begin, continue or rekindle their faith in Jesus Christ as their guide.

While in our Christian study, you will build a strong support system with others on the Christian track, and within the Christian community. With frequent community service projects and involvement with Christian support groups such as Celebrate recovery, each individual will build a sense of faith and community to help facilitate self-worth and long-term recovery. Research shows that through helping others, the addict thinks less about themselves and their problems, and more about others, helping to break the drug or alcohol cycle in their lives.

Active participation in these programs prior to leaving The Discovery House program helps to create a support network and an important safety net for people throughout a lifetime of successful recovery.

Together we share our experiences, strengths, and hopes with one another and become willing to let God change us. By working and applying these Biblical principles, we begin to grow and mature spiritually, and we become willing to accept God’s grace in solving our lives’ problems. We become free from our addiction and dysfunctional behavior. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy, and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others.

Statement Of Faith

One God; There is only one living and true God. He is all knowing, all powerful, and everywhere present. He reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Father; As Father, God provides, loves, judges, and freely offers grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

Son; Jesus Christ is the perfect representation of the Father in human form, both fully human and fully divine. Died at the hands of Pontius Pilate, was buried, and resurrected and is seated today at God’s Mighty right hand.

Holy Spirit; He lives within each Christian to inspire, empower, guide, convict of sin, and give abilities and spiritual gifts for carrying out the work of the church.

Scripture; The Bible is the historical revelation of God’s activity for humanity; the authority of God to teach, guide, correct, train, and save. It was inspired by the Holy Spirit, is truth without error, and is complete in revealing the will of God.
